The Role of the Divine Feminine in the Creative Writing Process

Andrew Harvey believes that the survival of humanity depends upon the fullest possible restoration of the powers, passions, and glories of the Divine Feminine.

His vision of the radical transformation of awareness and action that a reclaiming of the Divine Feminine would engender makes the Sacred Marriage possible: a full fusion of the sacred masculine and the sacred feminine on every level. Out of this sacred union, a new era of passionate enlightenment is born, an era in which human beings will awaken to their full potential and embody divine love in action.

The Divine Feminine also has a central role in the creative writing process. Writers who embrace the Divine Feminine can make a significant contribution to the current phase of awakening and experience for themselves the transformative power of the Divine Mother.

As the author of over 20 books, Andrew never begins writing without praying to the Mother for sacred inspiration, offering her the fruits of his efforts and asking her for the divine insight to be able to clarify some part of her infinite mystery for others.

In this interview, Andrew will:

  • share his overall vision of writing as a form of yoga of the Mother
  • offer 3 simple practices to still the mind and open the heart to her presence and passion to inspire the writing process
  • read 3 key sections from the great sacred texts of the Hindu, Buddhist and Christian traditions that he uses throughout his writing day to perfume his mind and words with her fragrance.

Andrew Harvey is an internationally acclaimed poet, novelist, translator, mystical scholar, and spiritual teacher. He has written over 20 books including The Hope: A Guide to Sacred Activism and Heart Yoga: The Sacred Marriage of Yoga and Mysticism. Harvey is a Fellow of All Souls College Oxford from (1972-1986) and has taught at Oxford University, Cornell University, The California Institute of Integral Studies, and the University of Creation Spirituality, as well as, various spiritual centers throughout the United States. He was the subject of the 1993 BBC film documentary The Making of a Modern Mystic, and is the Founder of the Institute for Sacred Activism in Oak Park, Illinois, where he lives.
