Here’s how to realize your full potential as an authentic and successful published author in 2011

JMstandingingardenThe title of this post is a bold claim to make. Yet it is based on over 20 years of experience teaching and working with thousands of aspiring and published authors.

Time and again I have seen the difference it makes to writers to have the right information, guidance and support.

Opening the way for people who have long dreamt of writing but not been able to overcome their resistance to start writing has been described as “life changing”. Deepening the process for more experienced writers, and guiding their steps as they build their platform, publish their books and create a portfolio of activities to support their authorship is “priceless” at every level for all concerned.

A holistic approach to writing for publication is not for everyone. Yet with so much uncertainty in the world, priorities are being redefined, and at the cutting edge, it seems that this is a vision of the future that is worth making a real commitment to.

As a result of that commitment being made, at the IACCW we have created a three-tier structure of training, coaching and mentoring programs to support aspiring and published authors in 2011.

Our aim is to teach you how to make a positive difference in the world
with your ideas, your expertise and your stories.

We commit to showing you how to overcome isolation and resistance,
be inspired to write what you are here to write, and
realize your full potential as an authentic and successful published author.

Winter Solstice Greetings

wintersolstice_stonehengeThe Winter Solstice (also known as Yule) occurs today at 17.47 pm GMT / 12.47 pm EST.

It is one of the oldest winter celebrations in the world and honours the return of the sun after the longest night of the year. The sun is the giver of light and so the winter solstice signifies the triumph of light over darkness as well as a time of rebirth and new beginnings.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very happy Winter Solstice and to celebrate the fact that our paths have crossed this year in what I hope has been a mutually rewarding exchange.

The Writer’s Journey Mentor Programme

Mentor_ProgrammeHaving worked with literally hundreds of aspiring authors over the years, I have witnessed what works – and what doesn’t – when it comes to real progress being made with writing.

As I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear, there needs to be a mix of inspiration, information, guidance, feedback and support in varying degress according to each person’s individual requirements.

The one single factor which seems to make the most difference to most writers is having an on-going working relationship with a professional who knows the writing journey inside out.

Yet is it enough for a teacher to teach without being currently engaged in the writing process themselves?

How to Survive the Emotional Roller Coaster of Writing a Book

rollercoasterWriting a book is a ’whole person’ journey. This means that all aspects of ourselves are involved in the process – physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual.

When these are in harmonious alignment, the well of inspiration overflows with ideas, the words meet the page effortlessly and rewarding connections are made with publishers and readers.

Yet maintaining this state of being ‘in the zone’ isn’t always easy and the reality is that the path to publication involves finding a way through many different challenges.

One of the most challenging aspects of writing a book for publication is the emotional roller coaster we discover ourselves to be on.

And there are times when we wonder why nobody told us quite how hard the whole creative process can feel sometimes!
