When was the last time you immersed yourself fully in music and dance?
Your sense of self dissolves as you become one with music and movement. Energy flows for you to express yourself freely, time is of no significance and your experience is effortless and engaging.
What has this to do with writing you may well ask?
The parallels of being in the zone, including all the benefits of that experience, are clear. Yet there is more to it than that.

I wonder how many of us got up to greet the dawn at 4.44am (here in the UK) on this bright summer solstice morning?
I am really happy to have done so as it truly was an awe inspiring experience. Blessed with mainly clear skies, I stood in the middle of the field next to our house with a high 360 degree panoramic view listening to the chorus of birds in the nearby wood. The deep red glow reflecting off wispy clouds set the sky on fire with what really felt like the “dawn of a brand new day”.
Celebrating the power of the sun when it is at its most potent has been of spiritual significance for thousands of years.
Creatively this is a time to celebrate growth and full expression of all the gifts you have to share with the world through your writing, speaking, relationships … and through simply being true to who you are deep inside.

Julia McCutchen interviews Andrea Beaulieu
Thursday 3rd June at
16:00 BST / 11:00 EST
We all have it – that still, small voice that urges us gently, quietly, but ever so confidently, in the direction of our highest good. It is our authentic voice – the one we were born knowing. Then, through experience and the conditioning of the mind, we often lose our conscious connection to it, except perhaps during times of danger, or when we have surrendered to our authentic self so deeply and joyfully that we hear it and follow it.
That same voice is the voice of our highest creativity. It is the voice that gives us the perfect idea, solution or direction. It gives us the perfect words and actions to express our uniqueness. It is the voice that shows up when we face the blank page, if we listen for it and to it. It is our authentic voice.

Writing a book for publication is a real commitment of time and energy which demands your focus for weeks, months and sometimes years. The sparks of enthusiasm which are present at the beginning of the process when your ideas are fresh and your motivation is strong show up on the page in a positive way.
The challenge for many writers is to maintain the momentum at this level of creative expression right through to completion.
For some it is a question of avoiding the many distractions which take you off in other directions entirely. For others, commitments to ‘everyday life’ activities can lead to losing touch with those first creative sparks, and as a result, the writing grinds to a halt.
One of the most important ingredients for completing long term creative projects successfully is to recharge your creative soul on a regular basis to ensure you always have access to your original impulse to keep you moving forwards.
So here are 7 simple ways you can recharge your creative soul to maintain the momentum with writing your book:

Julia McCutchen interviews Joseph Sestito
Thursday 6th May at
16:00 BST / 11:00 EST
Writing and living are at their best when you are in the present moment, living with intensity and exuberance.
Yet, to a greater or lesser degree, most of us are caught in the grips of what the Buddhist traditions call the “Four Worldly Addictions”. Learning how to break free from their grip reduces your suffering, and liberates your creativity and happiness.
Blending contemporary insights from psychotherapy with ancient insights from Eastern and Western Philosophy, Joseph Sestito will show you how to unlock your creativity to apply to your writing as well as to your relationships and to your in life in general.

As we head deeper into spring here in the UK, the glorious sunshine is bringing forth new life all around us. Swathes of brown trees and hedges are turning green as the young leaves emerge from every branch and stem. What has appeared through the winter to be a network of lifeless sticks is now the foundation of a whole new cycle of life.
I love the parallels of the creative process with nature. Every aspect of writing your book and achieving your vision of successful authorship can be aligned with the flow of nature to great effect.
Just like the leaves on the trees, right now is a wonderful time to breathe new life into your writing dreams and activities.
