Writer’s Journey Summer Solstice Greetings!

SunriseHere in the northern hemisphere, tomorrow is the summer solstice and the longest day of the year. Celebrating the power of the sun has been of spiritual significance for thousands of years.

Creatively this is a time to celebrate the full expression of all the gifts you have to share with the world through your writing, speaking, relationships … and through being true to who you are at the deep and authentic level of your unconditioned self.

Pausing to reflect on what the energy available at this potent time of year has to offer you, is well worth doing.

I am in the process of doing just that right now and I’ll look forward to sharing the results of that reflection with you in the coming weeks and months.

For now, my invitation to you is to take this opportunity to reflect on your journey and what you are currently experiencing in your creative life at this time.

Choose at least one thing to celebrate, however small it may be, and focus on that.

Release all thoughts and feelings relating to anything that isn’t yet how you would like it to be and enrich yourself with feelings of fullness. From that mindset you can make different choices and take different action if necessary … but just for today, live each moment in celebration of everything being perfect just as it is.

Enjoy!

The joy of writing may arrive at a much later stage and be mixed with an array of anxieties and the requirement to navigate many internal thresholds on the way to feeling like “a writer”.

A mix of these polarities is also very common.

Wherever you are in this range of possibilities, what really counts is cultivating a writer’s mindset. Thinking and feeling like a writer helps you write your book because it enables you to:

1. Take yourself and your writing seriously. If you want to write a book, there comes a point when you need to raise the bar and shift writing from an optional pastime to an essential part of your life. If you haven’t passed this point yet, take a leap of faith today.
