Lessons Learned from a Successful Creative Launch

Perfect_momentAbout this time last year I made a decision to pursue an idea for a major new creative project despite having no idea how I was going to make it a reality or if it would actually work!

Yet I felt deeply inspired to focus my energy directly on my true passion of opening the way for people to discover their authentic voice – on the page and in the world. I also felt a strong impulse to serve a wide, international audience of aspiring and published authors who value a conscious and creative approach to writing for publication.

So I found a source of high quality, reliable information which resonated with me, and I took action to learn what I needed to know to transform my vision into reality.

Along the way, I had to pause to take care of other commitments and priorities. Yet the vision was taking shape so powerfully that I knew intuitively I was on track and chose to trust the unfolding process completely.

Fast forward to today and I am just emerging from what can only be described as the hugely successful launch of the International Association of Conscious & Creative Writers (IACCW).

So here are five of the valuable lessons I have been reminded of from this experience which can be applied to creating and launching any project:

Emerged Creative Vision – Details Ready to Share

IACCW logoI hope that 2010 has got off to a great start for you. The full/blue moon on New Year’s Eve seems to have brought in a new wave of energy which I sense is going to make a major impact as we head into the new decade – exciting!

At last I am ready to share the details of my ‘emerging vision’ project. It feels like a perfect moment to do so and I can barely find the words to express how significant this feels and how passionate I am about it.

The project has arisen out of the fact that I find myself to be on a mission which I have chosen to accept fully.

My mission is to open the way for people to discover their authentic voice – on the page and in the world.

There are 3 main reasons why I am so motivated about this …

The Creative Vision Emerges

EmergingVisionAfter many months of engaging ever more deeply with my ‘emerging vision’ project, and taking the action required for this vision to show up in the world, I have reached the penultimate stage of this phase of the journey.

I am at the point where I can see before me the tangible evidence of my efforts over the last few months … and I totally love it!

Before I take the final step and reveal the details in just a few days time, I am pausing to appreciate the experience I have had and the enormous growth this project has demanded of me.

So what can I share from my experience that may be of value to you?

Winter Solstice Greetings

wintersolstice_stonehengeThe Winter Solstice (also known as Yule) occurs today at 17.47 pm GMT / 12.47 pm EST.

It is one of the oldest winter celebrations in the world and honours the return of the sun after the longest night of the year. The sun is the giver of light and so the winter solstice signifies the triumph of light over darkness as well as a time of rebirth and new beginnings.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very happy Winter Solstice and to celebrate the fact that our paths have crossed this year in what I hope has been a mutually rewarding exchange.

Crossing a Creative Threshold

facesWe are simultaneously just a few short weeks, and a whole New Year, away from the moment when I will at last reveal the mystery of what my “emerging vision” project actually is! I am so looking forward to sharing the details with you.

The New Year announcement will mark the end of the initial stages of creation and the beginning of the next phase when communication and connection will become the top priority.

In the meantime, I have recently crossed another major creative threshold which is a reflection of an important stage on the writer’s journey – when you first invite others to view, and potentially contribute to, your work.

This is a significant moment with all creative endeavours which are intended to reach an audience. It is also one of the most challenging steps of bringing a project to fruition.

How to Find Balance & Take Your Next Steps on the Creative Ladder

Creative LadderAs work continues on my ‘emerging vision’ project, I am preparing to take the next step up the ladder of creation which involves a serious investment of both time and resources.

This step is generating feelings which are a mixture of excitement and uncertainty.

Loving this project and its potential myself is one thing. The question is, will it ‘hit the spot’ for anyone else?

Many writers experience similar doubts when showing their work to others for the first time.

So how do you take those important next steps when faced with mixed feelings?

When Your Creative Vision First Shows Up in the World

Tip of the IcebergA few days ago I experienced another of my ‘creative downloads’ when a whole series of ideas relating to my ‘emerging vision’ project arrived at 3 to 5 minute intervals over the course of a couple of hours.

There was the usual feeling of insistence to write the ideas down which, as I’m sure many writers know, is typical in this kind of situation.

The trigger on this occasion was the first appearance of my vision ‘in the world’ which came in the form of visuals for the logo design turning up in my inbox (a bit of a clue here!).

Seeing the first stage of this vision coming to fruition was incredibly exciting and felt like crossing a major threshold.

What had previously been only in my imagination and hidden from the view of others, was now becoming visible.

It reminded me of an iceberg which is a powerful metaphor for the whole creative process and an image I often share with the writers I work with. Read the rest of this entry ›

How to Answer Your Own Questions & Raise the Creative Bar

GowiththeFlowA few days ago, I felt I had reached a metaphorical ‘rock’ in the middle of my usual free-flowing stream of ideas.

The impulse was strong & clear. I was ready to ‘raise the bar’ with my ‘emerging vision’ project but I just wasn’t sure how best to achieve that.

I certainly had lots of possibilities in mind but couldn’t yet see a way forwards which felt ‘right’ at every level (authentic alignment is a high priority for me).

So I wrote about how I was feeling in my journal and spontaneously sent out a plea for help to guide my next steps. Then I let it go and moved on to other things.

Within 36 hours I had my answer!

Creative Stepping Stones for Writers

Stepping_stonesI was recently working on developing some ideas for a new coaching programme, when seemingly out of nowhere, a sub-title came to mind which I loved immediately.

I felt a strong resonance with the words and delighted at the way in which they captured the essence of what I feel most passionate about when it comes to writing.

Interestingly, I quickly realised that they didn’t fit the new coaching programme at all. But that didn’t matter as I knew exactly where they belonged – my ‘emerging vision’ project.

The new coaching programme had simply acted as a stepping stone for me to discover exactly the right words to describe the focus of my brand new project – the details of which are yet to be revealed!

Emerging Vision

lightbulb_headI have recently started developing my ideas for a major new project which I feel extremely enthusiastic about.

It is as if the change and transformation which has been taking place within me and in my business over the last few months has been paving the way for the next level to unfold.

And this is a big project which is just in the very early stages so it will take a few months to complete.

In fact, I decided to set the launch date so that I have a slightly longer lead time than I had originally thought might be the case.

This is so that I can truly enjoy each stage of creating this project in a way that is authentic to me and honour my existing commitments.
